What is the difference between a wool Persian rug and a polypropylene Persian rug?

My boyfriend and I just purchased a persian rug on ebay only to learn it’s polypropylene not wool. Is there a difference in the material? If so, what can we expect this rug to be like? Will it be soft? Thank you!

it’s probably modern and soft and made in the usa instead of old and super expensive

polypropylene is something unnatural,so it is a long lasting material? actually they both look the same, just a profrsioal will know the difference.it will be soft but not as much as the silk one will be.

The rug you purchased is a synthetic whereas wool is natural and comes from animals. So it probably won’t be terribly soft. Or maybe it will be way softer than wool. But it probably won’t feel the same although it might be easier to clean.

Persian is the style of weave.
Wool or polypropylene are the materials.
I hope you didn’t pay the wool price for it.
It will not be as soft, but may last longer.
