Make a paste with water and bicarb soda and spread over the stain. Leave to dry, then vacuum off.
This should help remove the stain, and the odor in a safe way for your rug. If white powder is left after you vacuum, soak off gently with a little water.
Add a few drops of lavender oil to the water to help with the smell, too.
